Oklahoma City Bombing Bagpipes Tribute: The Bells of Dunblane

Monday, April 19th, 2022, marks the 27th Anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building that killed 168 people in Oklahoma City. The memorial was built on the site where the Federal Building once stood. It was later raised and replaced by the Memorial and a park with 168 chairs in memory of each domestic terror attack victim. In honor of the victims, survivors, rescuers, and all affected by the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995. We shall remember... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Bells of Dunblane was composed in memoriam of the tragic school shooting in Scotland that took place on April 11, 1996; nearly a year after the OKC Bombing. An unemployed former shopkeeper walked into the Dunblane (Scotland) Primary School armed with several revolvers and killed eighteen people, including himself. This was to be the greatest children massacre in the UK. Much like the OKC Memorial dedication ceremony, the bells of Dunblane cathedral rang a long tribute to the victims. Pipe Major Robert Mathieson, of the Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band, composed a slow air for the Highland Bagpipes in memoriam of the event. He entitled it "The Bells of Dunblane" because the silence of the people and the sound of the cathedral bells seemed much stronger than any spoken word. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Performed by the OK Fire Pipes & Drums - John Imes (Pipe Major) Mark Schucker (Bagpipes) Kevin Donnelly (Bagpipes) Bradley Kenna (Bagpipes) John Fairless (Bagpipes) Matthew Despain (Bagpipes) Daniel Dossey (Drum Sergeant - Snare) Tim Vermillion (Highland Snare) Damon Bybee (Bass Drum) Grant Johnson (Floor Tom) Chris Kinsey (Tenor) Drum Score written by: Daniel Dossey Audio Recorded at: Tower Theatre OKC by Nick Sigman (@nicksigman) & Daniel Dossey Video Production/Audio Editing & Mixing by: Daniel Dossey

Drumset Part for Rhythm Monster's 2020 Virtual Drumline Video

My good friends over at Rhythm-Monster.com reached out to me last week and asked me to participate in their upcoming, worldwide, virtual drumline video. Of course, I said yes! They wanted me to come up with a drumset part for their composition and basically do my thing. This video was my contribution. —— The World Pipe Band Championships (in Glasgow, Scotland) were canceled this year, so this video production from Rhythm Monster is the next best thing! They've created an awesome drum salute to recreate the vibe of drummers getting together from different bands after the competition and drumming in the beer tent. The (currently unnamed) piece was written for everyone of all skill levels to play. Rhythm Monster sent an invite to their subscribers worldwide, asking them to join in and take part in their upcoming video. In this video, what you're hearing is me playing along to the reference recording. That unofficial audio recording I'm listening to was performed by Michael Eagle, founder of Rhythm-Monster.com, playing the piece on practice pads and mimicking all the different parts in the work. Once all the entries have been received and processed, they'll be releasing the full video through all of their channels, so be sure to follow them (on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, or their website) to find out when it gets posted. There are few, if any, higher quality rudimental drumming sites on the web, and honestly, all of their content is out of this world! Thanks for checking out my video. Hit the subscribe button and notification bell to stay up to date with my channel. More cool things to come!
